The ASTI is committed to campaigning for a quality holistic education for all young people.

We believe that schools and teachers must be supported in their work towards this goal.

The fundamental problem for schools and teachers is that while society has high expectations of schools, funding of Irish second level education is seriously inadequate.

In fact, the OECD publication Education at a Glance 2008 shows Ireland coming 27th out of 29 countries when it comes to the amount of GDP per capita invested in each second-level student.
