ASTI General Secretary, Pat King has welcomed the appointment of  Ruairi Quinn as Minister for Education and Skills. Mr. King said:  “The Government parties have acknowledged the role of education in economic recovery. I look forward to discussing with the new Minister the importance of second-level education for the future life chances of our young people and for social and economic progress.”

The ASTI is the largest second-level teachers’ union in Ireland representing 18,000 teachers in schools all over the country.
