State Examinations Commission

The State Examinations Commission - SEC - is responsible for the development, assessment, accreditation and certification of all aspects - written, oral, aural, practical components of - the second-level examinations, i.e., the Junior Certificate and the Leaving Certificate, including the Leaving Certificate Vocational and the Leaving Certificate Applied examinations. The State Examinations Commission is non-departmental public body under the aegis of the Department of Education and Science.
