Ballot: Senior Cycle Redevelopment Support Measures
Last November 30,000 second-level teachers – members of the ASTI and the TUI – staged a lunchtime protest in a bid to highlight their serious concerns regarding the Senior Cycle Redevelopment programme.
Following this, talks between the teacher unions and the Department of Education began. These talks intensified in recent weeks, culminating in the publication of a document entitled Senior Cycle Redevelopment – Implementation Support Measures.
At its meeting on May 10th the ASTI Central Executive Council voted to put this document to a ballot of the ASTI membership.
The ASTI is also balloting members on industrial action, up to and including strike action, in the event that the proposals contained in Senior Cycle Redevelopment – Implementation Support Measures are rejected by ASTI members.
Please note: with school-based ballots, the School Steward should claim the cost of postage through their branch by producing the An Post receipt.
The CEC decided to put the ballot to members without recommendation.
