ASTI members are being balloted shortly on terms and conditions, equal pay for equal work and on COVID-19 measures in schools.
One of the biggest challenges is capacity for schools to put safe physical distancing measures in place in classrooms. Even before the pandemic, high-pupil: teacher ratios and overcrowding in schools were identified by ASTI members as problematic in research carried out by RedC Research and Marketing for ASTI in February.
