Parent-Teacher Meetings

The following arrangements – in respect of three parent / teacher meetings per year – have been agreed at the Teachers’ Conciliation Council:

  • Meetings will commence at 4.15 p.m. in all schools (each school closing 15 minutes before normal closing time) and conclude at 6.45 p.m.
  • In accordance with good practice, parents who are waiting at 6.45 p.m. will be seen, if this can reasonably be done. In the event of difficulty arising from implementation of this provision, the matter will be referred to the Teachers’ Arbitration Board for determination.
  • In the small number of cases where a parent is unable to attend the formal meeting, current practice, whereby the parent is facilitated to meet a teacher he/she wishes to meet will apply, and a time mutually convenient will be agreed.

Please note:
In accordance with the Croke Park Agreement school management, in consultation with with the teaching staff, may designate the usage of the additional 33 hours to deal with parent teacher meetings in line with the agreed formula for such meetings.
