Length of Notice
Voluntary Secondary Schools
A wholetime permanent teacher (including CID holder) in a Voluntary Secondary School wishing to resign should so advise the school manager three months prior to the end of the school term. Notice must be given in writing.
All Other Schools
In all other schools, the notice required is one month.
Temporary/Part Time Teachers
Teachers on temporary contracts who are taking up employment on a continuous or probationary basis in another school should give one month’s notice at a minimum.
Under the Worker Protection (Regular Part-time Employees) Act 1991, a minimum of one week’s notice applies to part-time teachers.
