A training seminar for Branch Equality Officers is taking place in the Radisson Hotel, Athlone on Saturday 7th March 2026.
The Seminar will begin at 11.00 am and will conclude by 2.00 pm.
Issues dealt with will include:
- The work and role of the ASTI Equality Committee
- Welcoming the world into our schools:
Philomena Obasi (B. A. (Ed.), MPA, MBA, HDip FE, GYW/GCE, SDG Advocate)
Cultural Diversity/Inclusion Consultant, Anti-Racist Facilitator/Design
Ireland is an increasingly multicultural society, and our schools are part of this welcome development. However, the inclusion of students and teachers fully into our schools can raise issues and we all must confront our own personal challenges in welcoming diversity. Philomena is an experienced facilitator of discussions on racism and inclusive learning/working spaces.
Tea and coffee will be available on arrival.
If a branch’s Equality Officer cannot attend, or if a branch has no Equality Officer, another branch member may attend but priority will be given to Equality Officers.
