The ASTI is seeking nominations for vacant posts from members in Community and Comprehensive Schools and Colleges in areas that did not submit any candidates following postal notifications to schools and branches in January. The committee has 10 members from each community and comprehensive area and meets approximately four times per year in ASTI Head Office and the meetings are also attended by the Honorary National Organiser, the President and the Vice-President. While in-person attendance is preferable, online is also an option. Most importantly, however, we are looking for individuals who are committed to putting time and effort into this committee’s work so that we can continue to grow our presence and role in this area.

The role of the area representative on this committee is as follows:

  • Maintain regular contact with and advise School Stewards and members in individual schools how to deal with issues,
  • Prior to all meetings of the committee, gather reports from schools in their area with particular reference to implementation of ASTI policies, unresolved issues, grievances and matters which require consideration by the Committee,
  • Make reports on the basis of the above to all meetings of the Committee, and
  • Visit all schools in their area once a year, if possible.

The term is two years and there are currently four areas with vacant posts - areas 1, 6, 8 and 10. These areas comprise the following locations:

Area 1   Dublin South 1

               Dublin North West (parts of)

As the areas do not necessarily align with branches in Areas 1 and 6, if you are interested in putting your name forward and are a member of one of those branches that is split across community and comprehensive areas, please get in touch with Eoghan Ryan ([email protected]) who can clarify if your school is in the relevant area.

If we receive more than one nominee for an area, a postal election will be carried out with the constituency being members in Community and Comprehensive Schools in the relevant area.

Email [email protected] for a nomination form. The closing date for receipt of nominations is Friday, May 30th, 2025 at 5.30 p.m.
