On 17th January, it was announced that the Government has agreed to an increase in annualized salaries of €1000 for the period 1st April 2017 to August 2017 inclusive for those on annualized salaries up to €65000 and who are parties to the Lansdowne Road Agreement.

The effect of this is to bring forward the €1000 increase due in September 2017 for parties to the Lansdowne Road Agreement to April 1st 2017.

This would apply to all teachers as the €65000 figure refers to annual salary and is not inclusive of allowances.

Moreover, as set out in the Special Nuacht in January 2017 page 5, it will only be applied to ASTI members in the event of acceptance of the current proposals in the ballot of members.

This acceleration in public service pay restoration has arisen in response to the Government acceptance of Labour Court recommendations which awarded Gardai better terms than those set out in the LRA.
