ASTI members vote to reject Building Momentum agreement
CEC met via Zoom today and discussed Covid-19 and schools
The ASTI today announced that it will ballot its members on the proposed public service agreement.
At a meeting today, the ASTI’s Central Executive Council decided to recommend that ASTI members reject the proposed agreement.
ASTI Standing Committee is directing members to teach classes remotely due to significant concerns about the health and safety of students, teachers and other school staff.
The ASTI says it has not been provided with a credible level of assurance by the Government that schools will be safe places next week.

Minister for Education Norma Foley must provide greater assurance to teachers, students, parents and other school staff that schools will be safe places next week, in the context of rapidly rising Covid-19 cases and the emergence of a new variant of the virus in Ireland which has enhanced transmissibility.
The ASTI is calling for greater clarification on whether Covid-19 cases in schools are driving community transmission.
