The ASTI is seeking applications from members who are interested in serving as an ASTI nominee on the Teaching Council.

The term of office will be for a period of four years, commencing in April 2022.

The members of the Council are appointed by the Minister for Education and include, under Section 8(2)(b) of the Teaching Council Act, 2001 - 2015, 11 registered teachers employed in, or qualified to teach in, recognised post-primary schools of whom 7 shall be elected by registered teachers and 4 shall be nominated by recognised trade unions representing such teachers. As one of the recognised trade unions, ASTI is invited to nominate two registered teachers to be members of the Council. In light of section 8(6)(a) of the Teaching Council Act, all nominating bodies are asked to have regard to gender balance in forwarding their nomination(s) for appointment.

ASTI Standing Committee will nominate the members to serve on the Council.

Interested members should apply to the General Secretary by outlining their suitability on an A4 page. Applications must reach ASTI Head Office before close of business on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022.
