World Teachers’ Day takes place on Thursday, October 5th.
Held annually, World Teachers’ Day commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers.
World Teachers’ Day 2017 will be celebrated under the theme “Teaching in Freedom, Empowering Teachers”. Teachers are encouraged to discuss the theme either as a class topic or as part of a staffroom conversation. For ideas and information, see www.ei-ie.org.
ASTI school staff can organise a staffroom cake to celebrate World Teachers’ Day and recoup the cost from their branch treasurer.
