The three teacher unions namely, ASTI, INTO and TUI are co-operating on a pilot project to increase awareness of health and safety legislation, including the role of Safety Representatives, in schools. Two pilot events are planned for this term, one each for interested members in the Cork and Galway areas. Each event will take place from 5p.m. to 7p.m., followed by a buffet dinner, and will include input from speakers with specialist expertise in health and safety. For the first event, travel expenses will be paid to members from Co. Cork who travel more than 10 kilometres to the venue while a similar arrangement will be in place in respect of the Galway session.

These events are open to Safety Representatives in schools who are members of either of the three unions, to other members with a particular interest in health and safety, and to officers of local ASTI, INTO or TUI branches.

Places Available at Cork and Galway Events.

Participant registration is essential. In order to register, please email Sarah Cullington ([email protected]) making clear whether you are registering for attendance in Cork or in Galway.

The venues are the Silver Springs Hotel, Cork on Tuesday 14 November and the Clayton Hotel, Ballybrit, Galway on Wednesday 29 November 2017.

Registration for the Cork event will close at 5p.m. on Friday 10 November and for the Galway event 5p.m. on Monday 27 November.
